The Apply Yourself Workshop

Collage of presentersNow that you've had a chance to visit with representatives of the different colleges at Illinois through the College Information Series, consider joining us for Apply Yourself. The Apply Yourself Workshop is a program designed to engage DGS students as they prepare to apply for the intercollegiate transfer (ICT) process.

This workshop offers in-depth tutorials on writing a personal statement and building a strong resume, as well as the opportunity to hear from U of I students who have been through the ICT process.

6:00-6:30 p.m. Check-in  
6:00-6:30 p.m. Resume Critique Registration Sign up to meet with a peer reviewer from The Career Center. You must bring a draft of your resume. Spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
6:30 p.m. Opening Remarks  
6:40 p.m. Workshop I Resume Building (Group 1)
Personal Statement Writing(Group 2)
7:05 p.m. Workshop II Personal Statement Writing (Group 1)
Resume Building (Group 2)
7:30 p.m. "Been There, Declared That" panel Hear from former DGS students who have successfully transferred into various majors
8:00 p.m. Resume Critiques (limited spaces)
Meet with peer reviewers from The Career Center. See above for resume critique registration time and details.
8:00 p.m. Visit with student panelists and DGS advisors
